🎊We launched our Strategic Plan for 2024-2026 on 17th July with the help of our partners, friends, staff, funders, and our peers. We acknowledge the general support of our donors, partners, staff, our constituents, to the process leading to the strategic Plan and the goal is to ensure the lived reality of LBQ folks are based on human rights, feminism and freedoms.

📣Today on our new segment #SRHR Wednesday, one of clinicians @huma_beryl answers one of the Frequently Asked Question by our peers "Can someone get arrested for knowingly infecting someone with the HIV virus"

This was also motivated by an online conversation(those ones for anonymous) where someone claimed that they were going around infecting people with the virus, which motivated some buzz around whether it is true? How are they getting away with it? So on..

You can access free HIV Testing and Counselling at our dice. We also offer PREP, PEP and Condom. We are open everyday Mon-Fri. Mon to Thursday from 10am to 5pm and Fri from 10am to 2pm. Call or text our office line 0745162506 for logistic assistance.

🗣Some two years back, two men came to our offices looking for assistance, one of our staff stepped out to see how she could assist them. But what we were not prepared for was what they were going to say next, "hii ni ile organisation ya madem?" And they went on to explain how they wanted to shoot explicit sexual videos with "our girls"😶 So this people believed by the virtue we provided SRH services to women, we must be selling sex too.

☢️This is one of the predicaments we go through as an organisation that serves LBQ women and non-binary persons especially in an area that is known for its religious "morality" And this is the force that keeps us going cause "LBQ women and non-binary persons' health is our priority" which goes in line with this year #IWD2024 theme

We held our first session with @perpetratorsanonymous on 25th April. These sessions are targeted towards fostering an empowering and safe work environment for our staff and peer educators. @perpetratorsanonymous were the ones facilitating the session.

@perpetratorsanonymous are an organization that provides a safe space for individuals seeking transformation after causing harm.

📣We observed that a lot of our peers, when they became parents, they would stop showing up for the cohort meetings, coming to our safe space and end up completely disappearing completely from any activities by and for the community. One of the reason being, there always seems to be this prejudice especially to those orienting as Lesbians, as people start to doubt your sexual orientation, asking if you are a real lesbian😪

This is why together with @wawainstitute we have decided to have a conversation around this with our LBQ & Enby parents, to demystify this notion of "parent-phobia" as they learn and understand how to navigate it around it.
